Newcastle-based duo Badmind just released a vibe, ‘Flaws and Phases’, a much-needed song just in time for the summer. This comes after a string of singles that were released throughout 2020. One of those being “Work Me (Remix)’, which racked up over 100K streams on Spotify alone. Moreover, one thing that stands out about ‘Flaws and Phases’ is the sound, which sits between lo-fi, R&B and pop. Those respected genres are undoubtedly in different worlds and the ability to combine them while maintaining a pristine sound lets us know the duo are especially talented.

As some of us know, relationships can be a rollercoaster. Some days with a partner can be sweet and simple while others can make us want to pull our hair out. Can you stand the test of time? Badmind reminds us of the reality of love in their uplifting new single. During the upbeat chorus, Badmind sings “Cause I know you are the one baby, and you love me through the flaws and phases, so I hope you stick around with me, and you love me through my flaws and phases”. This puts the everyday experience of love into context. We as humans are not perfect, especially when it comes to dealing with each other on an intimate level. At the same time, being able to deal with someone's imperfections can be mutually beneficial, in the long run.

Badmind is made up of singer-songwriter Dayna Leadbitter and producer/drummer Jaime Johnson. Recently featured in Radio 1 Big Weekend 2021 festival, the duo continues breaking down doors. As we continue to keep our ears open throughout 2021, we will be watching and supporting Badmind.
