Sunlight

Your Grandparents, the exciting and eclectic R&B/Hip-Hop trio, are anticipating ‘Sunlight’ with their summer ready new single.

Hailing from Los Angeles, the upcoming group composed of versatile artists DaCosta, Jean Carter, and producer ghettoblasterman have blessed us with some cinematic visuals for the soulful new track.

Alongside this release, they have announced their anticipated debut record, ‘Thru My Window’, which will be released independently on July 16th. If it’s anything like this track, we can’t wait to hear it. Their last album received critical acclaim, and history may repeat itself with the supposed funk, soul, rock, and blues influenced upcoming LP.

The song showcases the trio’s talent, equally unique, but with the abilities and confidence of an Earthgang or Anderson Paak, with the neo soul aesthetic of a Blood Orange or a D’Angelo.

If you haven’t spun their music before, it could be compared to more easy-going cuts from upcoming groups like Paris Texas and Planet Giza, with the lush instrumentation of Free Nationals and The Social Experiment.

The instrumental is dreamy and warm, perfect for the heatwave the UK should hopefully be expecting after the dreary past week we’ve had. Make sure you play this one on a hot day, for maximum enjoyment.
