Production powerhouse Swindle delivers another new single ‘NO BLACK, NO IRISH’ with the help of two iconic voices: Maverick Sabre and Joel Culpepper

The track reflects on Britain’s overt racial discrimmination both past and present, referencing the infamous ‘No blacks, No dogs, No Irish’ signs which were prevalent throughout the 1950s and 60s.

It follows ‘BLOW YA TRUMPET (Ft. Knucks, Ghetts, Akala & Kojey Radical)’, as the king of collaboration makes way for his upcoming album. THE NEW WORLD was written and recorded in the space of two weeks last year, and pulls in additional contributions from Loyle Carner, JNR Williams, Greentea Peng, Joy Crookes, Poppy Ajudha, Daley and more.

Like much of Swindle’s production, ‘NO BLACK, NO IRISH’ has a vibrant, instrumental groove, but its clean composition pares things back to let Maverick Sabre and Joel Culpepper’s lyrics stand front and centre. Culpepper’s poignant first verse is mirrored by the Irishman in the second, with both vocalists combining their talents for the main bridge later on.

Optimistic and resilient, this is a tune of healing, with the Black and Irish communities meditating on their shared history of injustice.

‘NO BLACK, NO IRISH’ is available to stream everywhere now in addition to its animated visuals. THE NEW WORLD lands October 29th. See you there.
