Mazes

cktrl shares a new video for his outstanding new single ‘Mazes’. The South London based jazz artist is a standout from the scene, with his ability to shift genre and transcend typical soundscapes with minimal, poignant tones.

Following up his critically acclaimed EP ‘Robyn’, the multi-instrumentalist shows no signs of falling off with this luscious, vibrant song. Alongside it’s electronic influence, the track features an inventive usage of reversed drums and the harp, which add to the surrealness of the experience.

Speaking on the song, cktrl said:

It’s about loving out loud as well as the complexities of loving someone, the twists and turns are like a maze. Sweet sensations in treacherous places.

The music video is directed by Yasser Abubeker and features some stunning, dreamy cinematography. As the visuals get progressively more intoxicated and psychedelic, the sounds of cktrl’s trademark saxophone almost act as an experimental film score to what we see.

It’s only up from here for the underground musician, who has worked with none other than Sampha, and has played alongside incredible talents like Sango, Kelela and Bean Blunt.  He has already confirmed new music is on the way, and we can’t wait.
