Made Up My Mind

Making an introspective piece on his battle with mental health, newly rising rapper Luchi Blue has released a more personal track ‘Made Up My Mind’ to coincide with Men’s Mental Health Week which talks about his own individual struggles that he deals with.

Luchi Blue first made appeared in the fashion scene having been scouted at a Childish Gambino concert 6 years ago and alongside being a full-time professional model, he now spends a lot of his time formulating rap verses in the effort to become a full-time musician. His new track is a stark reminder that after speaking to his friends, many of them were struggling but didn’t feel they could speak up about it. ‘Made Up My Mind’ is an ode to individuals who have problems with speaking out, encouraging them that they’re not alone.

With the track coming alongside visuals directed by acclaimed photographer Rosie Matheson, it also features Luchi Blue’s closest friends making cameos. The release of the track also saw limited edition t-shirts with all the proceeds going to mental health charity The Calm Zone.

Speaking on the track, Luchi has said:

I have always struggled with my own mental health throughout my life, but last year I really reached my lowest point. I reached a point where I didn’t want to be here anymore. I think with the added pressure of the lockdowns and some family health issues, quite literally, almost pushed me over the edge. As guys, we are conditioned from a young age that feeling emotions is a sign of weakness. So, when I started to talk to my mates about the way I had been feeling, slowly they started to all tell me that they were in similar places, but they had all been too afraid to ever speak to anyone about it.
