The Answer

Dropping his first release of the new year with further ambition, London’s Iman Lake creates a refreshing intersection between his self-assured sonic and visual influences. Teaming up with fellow London-based artist and songwriter FR Joey, the pair bring their storytelling abilities to the forefront on this atmospheric release, ‘The Answer’. 

Enlisting Suede City Collective member Apolinare on production, the heavy and immersive percussion draws you into the melancholic soundscapes, perfectly tied together through Iman’s effortless melodies and intricate ad-libs. The track takes on a bouncier, upbeat section to welcome FR Joey’s verse, maintaining its intrigue, before delving back into Iman’s free-flowing hook.

Continuing to add to the atmospheric approach taken on the single, the rising creative joins forces with Creative Indivisuals and long-time collaborator Azeez Bello to create the trippy, forward-thinking visual dedicated to black excellence. Yet again, the London-based musician and all-round artist continues to defy expectations and push forward within his own distinctive style.
