Blood Red Cheese Wire

One of the UK’s most mind-blowing lyricists, Jam Baxter, makes his welcome return to Blah Records with a surprise single ‘Blood Red Cheese Wire’.

Produced by longtime collaborator Forest DLG (Telemachus/Chemo), the tune sees Baxter build a psychedelic gulf between himself and the worlds and words of others.

His metaphors are as lurid and visceral and as ever, combining everyday experiences with twisted turns of phrases fit only for waking nightmares. The track’s title takes its name from the opening line: “I need your world like blood red cheese wire binding my ankles / Like children roasting my eyes on gurgling candles”. The time is up for certain people who surround him. Their advice, opinions, help and demands are needed even less than the most gruesome acts imaginable.

The hook is subtle, hushed and a little more literal, drawing listeners in for a closer listen. Plus, Forest DLG’s ominous instrumental is evidence enough for why the pair have already made three albums together, and counting.

Both Jam Baxter and Spin City are behind the stunning visuals shot out in Mexico. Look out for the man himself on his UK tour during the first quarter of 2022. Middle fingers crossed.
