Alright Sunshine

Underground luminary Finn Foxell finally unleashes his rich, vivacious and nostalgic EP ‘Alright Sunshine’.

One of our very favourite artists right now, Finn’s recent singles in the run up to the release of the project have been immensely impressive. ‘The Night’ highlighted the vibrancy that Finn was looking to pinpoint throughout the new EP, whilst ‘Slow Kisses’ is an unapologetically feel good number that draws you into its ebullient dynamism.

Finn stays close to shore in terms of features; only enlisting fellow Elevation Meditation members for guest spots. Lord Apex, the sensei himself, makes a memorable appearance on the opener ‘Golden Nuggets’; a seamlessly silky number that sees the boys elevate the chemistry we’ve previously witnessed from them on 2018 joint tape ‘Stuck in Motion’. Louis Culture and Xav also join the sun-kissed party for the wistfully buoyant ‘Real Ones’. Production for the tape comes courtesy of underground regulars p-rallel, Jacob Manson and NIKHIL Beats, and the beat makers lend some glorious sonic palettes for Finn to bless the soundscapes with his breezy nonchalance and endearing charm.

The Shepherd’s Bush rapper gazes inwards conceptually, focusing on themes surrounding youthful hedonism to create a snapshot of a young adults life; its drunken mistakes, its honeymoon period romance, and its imperfect perfections. There’s isn’t a weak moment throughout the EP - every track feels like it belongs and that it is necessary for the listener to fully understand Finn’s narrative embellishments.

Above all, this is a project with purpose. A refined collection of memories that lends sentiment and excitement to its listener. Tap in now.
