DND

17-year-old North Londoner Zahkar crafts the perfect melancholic summer anthem DND with the help of Danish born, West London based producer Morten Lava. Zakhar recently caught the attention of producing giant JAE5 and has gone on to release two singles Never Hiding and Phases.

In DND, Zahkar sings about navigating the unclear merky waters of casual dating and the deep to keep his cup full by protecting himself against draining forces that come in the shape of his love interest. It’s a whole mood of being on DND mode, being able to deny accessibility whilst living in an era of social media and an unhealthy desire to be connected all the time. The lyricism is vulnerable allowing Zahkar to genuinely express himself however the summer vibe disguises the weight of the lyrics.

Zakhar explains: "I wanted to create a toxic love song, with a summer feel to it about a girl I wanted but didn’t want to get too close."

For the visuals he collaboration with director Mani J (Nines, Kenny Allstar), Zakhar is seen in a manor house with the scenes cutting between a party featuring his friends and a disagreement between him and his love interest. He explores feeling torn and having to entertain to sides of himself.

Already he has blessed freestyle platforms like Mixtape Madness & SBTV and currently has 170k followers on Tik Tok with 3.1m likes from just a few videos. Now with a good run of steady releases, we’re itching to see what a project from the North Londoner sounds like.
