Old Times

Leicester’s ‘Local MVP’ Sainté is back to his ways, blessing us with yet another silky smooth offering ‘Old Times’.

Balancing uni whilst taking the music industry by storm may seem a tough feat for most, but the East-Midlands based talent seems to be doing just fine. Music clearly comes as second nature to Sainté with tangible evidence, from his break out single ‘Champagne Shots’ to his undeniably soothing EP lead ‘Stylin’. With hints of R&B and Jazz within his arsenal, he’s managed to differentiate himself from the rest of the underground sound within the UK. As he puts it himself in, “we stay out the crowd”.

‘Old Times’ showcases the pairing between Sainté’s trademark nonchalant manner and Brad Barker’s wizardry on the keys. Coasting across pattering kicks alongside a medley of angelic harmonies that radiate through the ether, Sainté offers a humble and honest portrayal into his life over the years; giving us a glimpse into his come up with the YSM circle and the current path they’re on to national, if not global, stardom (the Aussie’s love YS too).

Partnered with visuals courtesy of long-time friend and YSM co-creator Ashan, Sainté is shown posted in various locations during a whole day of shooting within his ‘cozy’ city of Leicester. Captured through digital flicks and cuts of VHS recordings hooked up to a boxy TV. The duo takes us through a listening experience of wholesome times depicted through a nice little drink up with some old friends outside a garage, to Sainté doing up magnum sipper and bopping outside ‘Vicky’s Chippy’. Ashan’s smooth transitions from day to nightfall are sealed with scenes of a flickering spot light casted upon a few team members posted outside a convenience store – casting emphasis on the value the collective hold within their people. The tie between Sainté’s easy on the ear sound and Ashan’s warm visuals seal the organic vibe that the small town hero has cultivated throughout his discography so far.

Now I may come across a bit biased throughout this write up – maybe it’s because we both reside within the East Midlands. I don’t know. But one thing that’s undeniable is that the man does not miss.

So get at Old Times now and run up those numbers!
