Lost In The Haze

Premiered on LOUDHOUSE, YOSH untangles complex emotions on hypnotic new single ‘Lost In The Haze’.

The 21 year old artist uses a mesmerizing, unresolving synth vamp and slightly skewed vocals to reflect circular patterns: both the maddening cycles of a toxic relationship and the confusing thought-processes needed to reach its conclusion. The production creates the haze promised in the title with ultra-low bass, the ambient decay of the synth chords, and a distant vibraphone that provides the vibe of a 1960s jazz sample. YOSH’s laid-back cadence walks through ruminating lyrics, ultimately resolving to move forward. Reflecting on “the backend of the healing process”, YOSH shares that these lyrics were “written after finally putting the wraps on a toxic entanglement”, processing the frustration of spending years “running in circles.”

The accompanying visuals, directed, edited & shot by The1percenter, illustrate this feeling with YOSH sitting in the dark, illuminated by flickering lights, and surrounded by abstract forest textures in split screen. Ultimately, YOSH chose to prioritize his future – “don’t stop at the moon, I need to hit Mars” – and can be seen at video’s opening writing a tracklist and planning what’s next. Arriving on the heels of his 10-track project ‘In Conclusion’ that dropped earlier this year, ‘Lost In The Haze’ promises a prolific path forward for YOSH.
