it's a vibe

UK garage is back like it never left courtesy of rising Middlesbrough-based artists Eyeconic and Shakk and their new single, ‘it’s a vibe’. the track is a nostalgic trip down memory lane to the UK garage sound that was prominent in the clubs and on the airwaves in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. The track is elevated even further by a vibrant accompanying music video directed by Kraken Cinematic.

Eyeconic and Shakk are two solo artists who have found much success in their early careers so far thanks to not only their rap skills and impressive lyricism but also their ability to perform – Shakk recently won Performing Artist of the Year at the 2021 North East Culture Awards. Although on individual paths, the two friends have a natural chemistry together that is evident on the track and in the video as they enthusiastically trade verses and showcase their skills on the mic.

Speaking further on the release, Shakk commented:

“During a period of feeling low and uninspired during lockdown, I spoke to Eyeconic on the phone, and we discussed how we missed the thrill of performing live, which sparked the idea for this song. Inspired by the UK garage comeback, we felt it would be the perfect foundation to make something that encapsulated everything that makes the British music scene fun, energetic and diverse.”

With such a strong single release, it’s clear Eyeconic and Shakk are ones to watch out for in the UK scene. Expect to see and hear plenty more from the talented pair over the next year as they unveil more new music.
