Hypnotic Ways

Los Angeles producer and singer Clayjay enlists UK underground frontrunner Xadi for his infectious new offering ‘Hypnotic Ways’.

Having become known for his affecting and celestial production style that combines psychedelic tendencies with hip hop characteristics, as well as his self-directed and non-conformist visuals, Clayjay has been elevating his craft and reputation, working with the likes of Deb Never on her debut album.

The multi-talented Bay Area native links up with one of alternative hip hops hottest properties in Xadi, who has been churning out hit after hit over the last 12 months, recently highlighting his versatility on R&B slow jam ‘Acting Up’. The cross-Atlantic pairing combine to great effect on this striking new cut that is a sonic and visual celebration of sound and culture.

On the beat, which is the epitome of the indie/hip hop crossover approach that has improved and expanded over the last few years, bittersweet guitar melodies and bountiful percussion are serenaded by the pitched vocals of Clayjay, engulfing the sonic landscape with a wistful, sun kissed tone. Xadi comes through with his usual retrospective writing and a charismatic vocal performance. The track is complimented by Clayjay’s incredibly manufactured video that seamlessly edits 107 sourced video clips into one thrilling and retrospective visual.

On this marinaded, magnetic and affecting banger, both artists portray their expansive skill set to great effect.
