ETERNAL

Ashbeck has only gone and ‘crucked it’ once again with a stupidly smooth entry ‘ETERNAL’, linking up with the one and only Billzonthebeat to provide the soothing keys.

Now you could say there’s numerous frontrunners for the UK’s rising rap scene at the moment, but if we’re gonna be honest, the starting squad is evidently captained by the laid back emcee hailing from North-West London, Ashbeck - and if you were unsure of that status, this silky offering certainly consolidates that notion.

Ashbeck’s had a pretty steady year so far, with two features under his belt (one being the absolute banger ‘Cloud Nine’ with Feux) and a few weeks back rightfully earning a spot within the Noisey x Paco Rabanne ‘My 1st Million’ fund, touching base on the underground national anthem ‘Cooli’ surpassing his first million streams. Ashbeck’s ‘obligation to keep making music’ is in full force right now and ‘Eternal’ only continues to prove that this man shows no signs of taking his foot off the gas.

‘ETERNAL’ see’s Ashbeck bring two thirds of his self-established ‘Cruck Records’ together to curate this seamless banger, turning to the fluid pianist and go to producer amongst the rising UK scene right now Billzonthebeat. Stocked with riddim after riddim, Billz has accumulated a stupendous discography over his time in the game, consisting of infectious productions such as; Bolo ft. AoneNine, ‘no fun’ ft. 00ab and not to mention his serene beat tape ‘PluggnBillz’ (go check ‘galaxy’, really do be slapping).

For ‘ETERNAL’ Billz guides us through an ambient series of idle, ethereal keys before punching in a choppy sequence of hi-hats and crisp claps, forming an impeccable foundation for Ashbeck to saunter in with that distinctly mellow voice, as he strings together the suave sneaker-head inspired hook: ‘kicks match the tee/kit PSG/sick with the steez’. The cadence of this track is unmatched and Ashbeck’s tranquil delivery utterly compliments the soundscape - I mean he literally says it for himself ‘flow that’s what all works with the cadence’ just before breaking off into that rich ‘okay let me know, where you wanna go’ switch up. Now Ashbeck’s head swaying change up was cold, but can we take a moment to deep that goosebump inducing sax solo going off in the ether - Billz went crazy on this one for real.

In classic fashion, the North-West Londoner sources the visuals through anonymous visionary LAUZZA, who also happens to be the mind behind movies such as; YT’s Gore-Tex riddled ‘Arc’teryx’, Ayrtn’s comic book strip inspired ‘FLO’s’ and of course his hand in duplicating numerous Ashbeck’s and El Londo’s in the ‘Booli’ visuals. This time round though, the underground heavyweight videographer takes inspiration from the PSG bar and heads to the astroturf in a 5 a side kick about seeing team Ashbeck lead by coach Billz, face off against Sainté and his set. Now Sainté may be the Local MVP but Ashbeck takes Man of the Match on this occasion, bringing home the W for his side in a penalty decider.

Once again Ashbeck has come through with a certified anthem that’s bound to cause numerous wheel ups as soon as Boris and his henchman decide to stop playing around and let us shell down some shows - but till that day comes you should seriously go take in this new one, honestly hits different. The man only continues to prove why he’s miles ahead of the crowd, he really isn’t lying when he says the rest of them ‘can’t do it like this’.
