Cheer Me Up

South London’s Louis Culture continues to elevate the bar with a pensive number that sees the genre-less sound meditating on his inner turmoil to either let go or continue to hold on to his hope in self-reflective ‘Cheer Me Up’ featuring Saint Jude.

Distant from the young talent’s experimental garage sound that’ll see you 2-stepping around the gaff - for me his body chilling, head swaying ‘Part 2’ number had me hitting a likkle shuffle around the house throughout the majority of the first lockdown. Louis once again displays his open mindedness for his art, as the multicultural sound comes through with a wistful jazzy instrumental layered with a repetitive sequence of boom-bap-like drums and low bass setting a vague canvas for the talent to once again step into the lyricism and weighted wordplay he posses like in previous banger ‘Being Me’.

It seems that the Elevation Meditation member almost uses the mic to open up to himself, not just us in this one, going back and forth in thought; speaking out about the times he’s come this close to giving up but coming to recall the value he holds in those close to him shortly before breaking off into his hook swaying from honest wordplay to raw harmonies as he hands the lead to a lulling Saint Jude verse.

Louis comes from a short hiatus following his most recent body of work ‘Burst’ to deliver this piece - but like many artists, Culture didn’t vanish for no reason, as ‘Cheer Me Up’ serves as a window for his audience to grasp a glimpse into his upcoming project set to release later on in the year - so it seems like the man’s been locked up in the studio for sometime now waiting to release some gems!

So go take in ‘Cheer Me Up’ now alongside the complementary visualiser curated by @scrappymetal and get yourself ready for that project announcement!
