His sophomore release Ski, is the second offering plucked from his upcoming debut EP ‘Diversity’ set for release later this month.

The Pit connected with the sure-fire superstar to chat about the competitive nature of entering the industry, the Lagos music scene, and what to expect from his debut upcoming EP.

How and why did you start making music?

I started making music at the age of 13, but not professionally. It was basically for private consumption. I can’t exactly say why I stared making music. But it was just a part of me, it’s just something I had to do. It was part of me, you feel me. Making music then was basically me just being me.

Who influences you musically?

Basically anyone who has a good message to pass, either melodiously or lyrically.

Who do you look up to in the industry?

Polo G, Davido, Burna Boy, NBA Young Boy, Lil Tjay, Wizkid, every good musician basically.

As a young artist, how are you finding entering into the music scene?

I find it very challenging and competitive. There are lots of fine creatives out there. You can’t just help but to be motivated- it’s a healthy competition.

The main things is really not entering the music scene. The main this is staying relevant even after 10 years.

What’s your opinion of the Lagos music scene?

To be sincere is a tough one . It’s not for a lazy mind. There all kinds and types. It’s keeps you on your toes. You have no option that just to be creative otherwise you get kicked off the race…

How would you define your own sound?

My sound is very diverse. My nearest definition will be “Afro trap” sound. So let’s get out more sound and we get to get a better definition. What do you think ?

Why did you choose to pinpoint this stylistic approach?

Basically, it’s mainly because I saw it as a way to stand out from others. Branding is key.

At such a young age, how have you worked to deliver a sound with such maturity?

I am surrounded by people that are far older and matured than me. There is a saying that “if you can’t beat them, Join them”. Basically I joined them.

The maturity training behind the scene is not easy. But it’s worth it.

Outside of music, what are your creative interests?

Drawing, playing football and cloth styling .

Who would you love to collaborate with?

Made Kuti, Seun Kuti, Polo G, NBA Young Boy, Justin Bieber, Kanye West.

Your debut single With You is seriously impressive! How has the reaction been?

I can’t even lie it was beyond imagination. I didn’t even see this massive support coming. It’s been amazing and I give all thanks to God. My fans are real. Trust me.

Your follow up Ski showcases a different side to your artistry. What are the main ideas of the track?

Basically ski would introduce the diversity in me.

What can we expect from your debut EP?

Expect Diversity to its peak.

If you were introducing a new listener to your music, what track would you play them?

I would play ski to them

What’s to come from you?

I can’t really tell, but expect the best from me.
