Newcomer Chanel Loren serves up one hell of an introduction to the alternative R&B scene with her genre-merging, emotionally resonant debut single Playlist. 

After years of honing her sound and polishing her craft, the London-born, Sydney-based singer songwriter has finally unveiled her baptismal offering, and it doesn’t disappoint. Fusing together characteristics of alternative R&B, indie and UK Garage, Playlist offers up a colourful slice of introspection, embellished by Chanel’s stunning vocality and elysian harmonies. Addressing love-soaked dismay in her metaphorical lyricism, the writer’s words softly bite with emotion, feasting on our inner scorned romantic whilst seducing us with her vibrant musicality. 

Speaking on the single, Loren comments:

“I wrote 'Playlist' a few years back after reflecting on a 'situationship' I had with a guy. Things got messy and I was struggling to express my emotions. I wanted to understand those feelings so I made a playlist called 'Him'. I never wanted him to hear it... It was kind of my way of getting closure about the situation and knowing I'm not the only one who has experienced heartbreak.“
