You Again Remix

London singer-songwriter Safiyyah lands with the remix to ‘You Again’, enlisting producer Tambala for the UKG switch-up. Those acquainted with Safiyyah’s music will know she narrates personal experiences and voices outlooks that we as listeners can relate to – her style is deep, sensitive and introspective.

We move on to the listen of the remix. A few seconds into listening for the first time, having been a fan of the original version of ‘You Again’, I was certainly ‘ears open’ more than ever. I thought… what direction will it take? Then, the track progresses and I’m feeling it, I’ve got the slight body sway to the drums kicking in. Bringing the garage feel to this smooth and relaxing song, could have been a gamble, but the result was a stroke of genius. It completely transforms the song, as you would expect from a remix, giving it this whole new feel yet still keeping it as glossy and swanky as the original. 

This latest version of ‘You Again’ arrives off the back of a remix challenge following the release of her debut EP ‘Third Eye’. Of course, the winner of this challenge was Tambala, yes I know, I gave away this secret earlier right? ‘Third Eye’ is a body of work which continues to gain traction through praise from notable plaudits, even landing in Jamz Supernova’s top 5 EP list on BBC 1Xtra.
