Wax Roof, a seasoned producer, has been a steady pillar of the Oakland music community for nearly a decade. In addition to independently composing and producing he plays Flute, Trumpet, Clarinet, Guitar, Bass and Keys.

The ‘Top Floor EP’ is a collaborative look at maturation in four tracks, with each examining a different aspect of personal growth over rich, layered production. Wax elaborates on the genre-bending musical stylings he’s laid over the past year, with more cohesive features, and pointed instrumentation. Be it “GoodMorning”, which tackles the loss of friends and the experience of outgrowing people, or “Move”, which illustrates the contemporary dance of constant non-commitment. “Wanna” takes that idea a step further, which features Bay Area favorite Caleborate and Chicago’s Ausar trade verses of nascent lust over soulful production. The title track “Top Floors”, Wax fuses California slap with virtuoso musicality  that culminates in a collaborative composition and guitar/bass duo with Ghana’s Obeng King.

Top Floor EP is about learning to give strong first impressions through trial and error. It’s a realization that I need to display my honest self, from the jump, to cut through the dead air that seems to fill so many conversations
— Wax Roof

Wax’ long list of credits includes current favourites and classics alike, from Saba, Xavier Omar, Smino and Rexx Life Raj to Murs. On the path to his upcoming album, expect more soulful journeys through music.
