SUNRISE

It’s now June and we’re only just starting to see the nice weather in the UK. Luckily, with this new summer-ready track from Raelle, it seems like things will be staying sunny.

The London songwriter’s new single ‘SUNRISE’ might be one of her strongest Neo-Soul cuts yet. It’s the type of song made for sitting back on grass, or laying down by the pool.

Her mellow vocals make the track oddly sentimental, alongside the live instrumentation which almost makes it feel like an intimate NPR Tiny Desk Concert. The jazz influenced beat will bring back a strong sense of nostalgia for long-ago holidays and warm memories, just like the breezy sounds of Erykah Badhu, Solange and Raveena.

The track follows up the dreamy ‘Purple Skies’, and is an intimate experience with Raelle’s falsetto harmonies, which carry a strong sense of hopefulness.

When speaking on the track, Raelle said

Sunrise to me does not only represent new beginnings, but it has always allowed me to go back to the present moment and take in what I can and be grateful for the people and blessings I have surrounding me.

It’s a perfect track for the warm weather, especially if you’re a fan of the R&B influenced soundscapes of The Internet and Thundercat, or the laidback soulful instrumentals of Noname and Anderson Paak.

Raelle is someone to have on your radar, and thankfully her EP ‘Wake up Sunshine’ drops this summer. She’ll unquestionably be at festivals all over Europe in no time! Listen to the track below.
