Shut Up

Florida collective seeyousoon continue to turn heads with the engrossing and avant-garde ‘Shut Up’. The group, who blend genres such as old school hip-hop and neo-soul, offer hypnotic beats and off-kilter production alongside conscious and often hilarious lyricism. The track’s illustrious energy is matched by a dynamic and vivacious video.

The beat is individualistic and unusual, with a plucked, fragmentary sample playing the melody throughout, whilst the percussion is often sparse and robust. The production is atmospheric and spacious, leaving plenty of sonic room for the layered, textured vocals. There is a wide variety of flows and tonality in the divergent verses from differing members of the group, and each verse is full of personality and idiosyncratic lyricism.
