Rocks

Lex Amor makes her solo return with ‘Rocks’; the brand new single from one of North London’s most unmistakable voices.

Having recently sold out her debut headline show and appearing on Kojey Radical and Swindle’s rallying anthem ‘War Outside’, Lex has seen the recognition our underground crowd has been calling for since 2017. Last year’s project Government Tropicana took her sound to many more ears, but it seems like the whole world will be on to her by the end of 2021.

Warm with her trademark tones, ‘Rocks’ does what Lex Amor does best: blending everyday, working class experiences with the poetics and concepts of pensive abstraction, all through a spokesperson in Nike 110s.

In an interview with The Face, Lex said:

“After the shit that was 2020, I felt like there was a really urgent need [...] to find values and freedom outside of our current circumstances, to navigate life in a different way. [...] This song was an attempt at reconciling that – renegotiating our personal safeties in ways we haven’t been challenged to before.”

Lex delivers introspection while looking outwardly. Her confessional cadences are delicately uttered through Mike Keyz’ production, crafting a package that’s both serrated and soul-stirring.

Expect more from Lex Amor before the year is out, including a performance at Pitchfork’s London festival on November 12th. Also, be sure to watch the video for ‘Rocks’, directed by Tyrus Hill and a baptism itself.
