Roadside

Mahalia proves herself to be the queen of break-up anthems on new AJ Tracey featuring cut ‘Roadside’

The GRAMMY-nominated Goddess has been stunning listeners since her 2016 debut album ‘Diary Of Me’, and is now one of the biggest names in R&B. Following on from her earlier 2021 release ‘Whenever You’re Ready’, Mahalia returns with another certified head bop, this time taking aim at the song’s subject for leaving her on the metaphorical roadside.

Summery guitar chords are combined with afrobeats-inspired percussion and a groove-laden bass line to offer the ideal sonic palette for Mahalia to swoon in dazzling injustice, as she unwinds a wistful tale of lost love and heartbreak. Tracey has been highlighting just how diverse his talent is, with a striking turn on the Gorillaz ’Meanwhile EP’ as well as releasing an eclectic new project ’Flu Game’. This performance only further cements his claim for the chameleonic crown; offering a near perfect counter narrative to the vivid web that Mahalia spins.

Speaking on the track, Mahalia commented:

Mahalia’s music is thoughtful, sonically surprising and, most importantly, a hell of a lot of fun. Make sure to check this one out for a good time.
