Rather Be

Teaming up once again, Ayeisha Raquel lays out her low-key harmonies and singular melodies over Darkness’ distinctively-curated sound for their latest single ‘Rather Be’. Having previously joined forces on the East-London producer’s earlier, introspective single ‘If You’re Looking’ and last year’s forward-thinking, R&B track ‘Darling’, the pair prove just how compatible their musicianship can be, regardless of genre or style.

This time around, the pair bring a self-assured theme to the live instrumentation and bass-line driven single. Ayeisha Raquel continues to explore the versatility of her vocals, singing with a light and breezy register with the ability to keep it soulful with her distinctive, melodic tendencies.

The same can be said about Darkness’ production, the laid-back, downtempo instrumental with it’s detailed, live instrumentation is a far cry from his previous work holding a much heavier, grimier sound. ‘Rather Be’ continues to display the artists’ ability to walk the line between genres and create something wholly their own.
