The Leeds-based, electro-soul four-piece bring a perfect balance of familiar and experimental in their first release of 2020, ‘Pina’. After making waves with their 2018 debut ‘Icaros’, the Northern quartet began to establish their individual blend of sound, followed up with last year's four-track EP ‘Owls’. Made up of vocalist Olivia Battahcharjee, drummer Matt Davies, bassist Jim Wiltshire and Tom Henry on keys and production, the band explore their combined influence, creating something completely their own.

This latest offering continues to display their ability to use a range of styles, bringing them together to create something distinctive, with ease. Bringing a neo-soul infused melody, both live and electronic percussion, heightened by infectious synths and soundscapes, ‘Pina’ brings a perfect melting pot. With Olivia Bhattacharjee’s husky, soul-infused vocals adding a depth of texture and tone to the already atmospheric production and perfectly-placed instrumentation, Noya Rao are shaking up the UK jazz scene with their unique approach.
