Gently

Fresh off his dazzling turn for The Silhouette’s Project, R&B crooner KeepVibesNear delivers the sentimental and pensive ‘Gently’, featuring Evie Golding

An artist who proudly defies sonic and visual convention, KeepVibesNear’s self proclaimed ‘noir R&B’ is pitched somewhere between King Krule and Samm Henshaw. Offering up a stylistic potion of generic sensibilities, the London singer songwriter has recently signed for Melting Pot Music, releasing his new single via the label.

The beat is modern R&B with an electronic twist, with Wurlitzer chords drifting around the melancholic soundscape, whilst the brooding bass and staccato drums offer sharp tones, producing an instrumental that is both brash and bittersweet. The black and white video is stylistic and subtle, reinforcing the wintery, atmospheric aesthetic of the tune.

The singer impresses lyrically with a fresh, authentic look at love and relationships. KeepVibesNear expresses the turmoil that a break down in communication can conceive, and how sometimes you have to step outside your own morality and thought process in order to reconnect with a lover. Speaking on the subject KVN offered:

“Gently as a song represents the build-up in an argument with your other half. That moment at the end of an argument when you give in to your care for the other person. You take a breath, put aside your ego.“

Unafraid of highlighting vulnerability and the imperfect mannerisms of a human being, ‘Gently’ is a reflective and artful offering, full of vitality and virtue.
