Underground sensation Natty Wylah continues his journey through a surreal and fanatical world on the ambient, off kilter and beautifully sinister cut ‘Cinders’, produced by Purple Cloud. Raised in North West London, Natty boasts an eclectic and cultured musical identity, drawing influence from genres like jazz, grime and post-punk. Caught between conscious mumblings and vivid fantasy, Natty’s latest is a descent into abstract naturalism and subtly dramatic instrumental.

The ambient, part free form jazz part Neo-Orchestral sonic landscape is all consuming, with a superb range of individualistic instrumentation surveying the beat. From the droning synths, to the rumbling double bass, the strings straight out of a 1930’s horror film and straight up hip hop drum kit, the beat is immensely effective, creating a creepy and subdued timbre - like walking through a forest alone at night. The vocal delivery from Natty is erudite and nuanced, with words almost slipping off of his tongue, edging the listener closer to him, to hear the nightmarish imagery more clearly. The songwriting is thematically dense and vivid, with gothic descriptions and striking vocabulary.

This is a really special track from an exceptional storyteller. You won’t hear anything like this. This guy is a talent. Listening is a no brainer really.
