Chaos

Alternative hip hop duo Your Loss bring bustling cadence and impetuous, tenacious sonic projection on the unconventional and enduring ‘Chaos’. Combining the anarchy of punk with skippy hip hop rhythmic patterns and introspective lyricism, the West London pairing offer up a unique, robust and deeply personal interpretation of alternative hip hop. On ‘Chaos’, there is a raw animalism and gritty otherworldliness to both the production and the vocal, with choppy elocution, erratic and transcendent soundscapes and piercing, pensive writing.

The glitchy, JPEG Mafia-esque production carries great textural variation, with elements of trip hop, electronica and punk bubbling under the surface. The nihilistic, engrossing synths dominate the instrumental, with deep, burdening percussion carrying the lighting quick tempo. The vocal delivery is intrusive and compelling, with biting flows and a tone of almost desperation emphasising and embracing the abrasive, vivid writing. The vocal production is avant-garde and assertive, with an array of production techniques spun to keep the listener constantly challenged.

An impressive addition to Your Loss’ growing catalogue, the duos individuality and coarse, tumultuous energy highlight them as one to watch in 2021.
