candles

Shaun Sky lands with brand new single ‘candles’, straight off the back of his most recent release ‘pretty’. In contrast to the latter, ‘candles’, produced by Temesgen, is a stripped back and slower, heartfelt anthem, highlighting the Brixton artist’s versatility to bring the noise, but also show a softer side.

There’s a distinctness in the way that Shaun raps, and that is the bite, it’s staccato almost. It’s less prevalent in ‘candles’ but you hear it permeating through at the end of certain bars. The enunciation adds an extra dimension to the delivery of his flow. It’s the skill of keeping the listener engaged.

And yes, how could I not mention that subtle twist of a Biggy bar? ‘Birthdays, was the worst days, you can dash that champagne I ain’t thirsty’. Loved that. Be the passenger and let the Pilot take control. Run it up.
