BUZZCUT

Everyones favourite boyband, Brockampton stray further than ever from convention with electrifying and avant garde results on ‘BUZZCUT’, featuring the immaculate Danny Brown

Having skyrocketed to public and critical acclaim with their eclectic and flashy style, there are few artists who possess the level of craft that Brockampton carry across all their creative outputs; whether production, vocal delivery or musicality. After dropping their fifth album ‘Ginger’, a more mellow, sombre approach than the style that the groups core fan base had come to know and love, BUZZCUT sees a return to the bullish, dynamic banger formula that worked so well on the ‘Saturation’ series.

One of the main reasons that Brockampton have managed to stand out from the copiously overcrowded American hip hop scene is through their incredible production and this new single is no exception. The brash, abrasive beat is complex and intrusively infectious; sonically twisting and turning with seamless vitality.

Vocally, unconventional front man Kevin Abstract takes centre stage, with a technically superb and lyrically concise verse. The feature from Danny Brown is a spectacle to behold - he delivers an exhilarating verse showered in distortion and compelling, boisterous wordplay. We are treated to an alternative soul beat switch outro that is a welcomed surprised (if it’s still possible to be surprised by Brockampton), with crooning saxophone and ethereal harmonies offering a melancholy tinged finale to the full throttle experience.

Accompanied by an immensely trippy visual, the creative potential of these boys is unfathomable. With a new album on the way, it feels like the crossroad that Brockampton have been stuck at has narrowed into one, explosive lane. Long may the madness continue.
