Boundaries

Illustrious and soulful melodies combined with strong jazz influences make BINA.’s latest single a great success. She is an artist hailing from South London who skillfully merges together musical ideas with ease, using elements of soul, RnB and jazz to create her own distinctive, ataractic sound.

The distant and dreamy piano and vocal production alongside some effective use of saxophone counter-melodies create a backdrop for seductive, repetitive lyrical phrases that entice the listener. The beat isn’t too busy, and its sparseness allows each sound to explain why it is included in the track. With vocals reminiscent of Ms Lauryn Hill, BINA. uses her individualistic tone as an instrument. The song manages to have sincerity and depth, whilst also maintaining a bop to it, all in its short 2 minute running time.

The track leaves the listener wanting more; a short but sweet trip of ambiguous lyricism and musing, effortless instrumental that is provoking and severely listenable.
